In 2000 the Greek government designated for
special protection The Sea Captain's Villa as one of 45
buildings and 5 windmills in Oia.
Noted for the architecture and historical significance
that the House gives to the protected village of Oia.
The Government Document FEK 706 of 23 October, 2001
identifies the purpose, protection and list of buildings
awarded this status.
As an officially recognized traditional building,
the House is eligible for government grants and special
treatment within the Zone B of Oia. -
